The Institute can provide expert advice on issues within the heritage and arts sectors by utilising the professional expertise available through its membership base and undertaking activities such as:

The Institute provides expert advice in situations according to an established set of criteria to ensure the matters of advice are directly related to the interests of advancing professional practice with the heritage and arts sectors within Australia and amongst the international community.

The Institute can provide advice under the following circumstances:

 

Criteria for the provision of expert advice from the Institute

Provision of advice from the Institute must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. The area/s of expert advice offered must relate to areas of substantial professional expertise within the membership base of the Institute;
  2. The use to which advice will be put is made clear and an agreement is in place that the advice will not be used for any other purpose without the approval of the Board;
  3. All advice must include the acknowledgement of the individual professional contribution of members unless otherwise agreed;
  4. All advice must be released under the authority of the Director of the Research School of Humanities on behalf of the Institute;
  5. A report on all expert advice will be provided to the Institute Board at each meeting; and
  6. A summary of expert advice provided will be available for members via the Institute website.
