Passing for, passing through, passing off, passing as, passing over…
The concept of passing is multifarious and the range of disciplinary and epistemological approaches to passing is equally diverse.
This one-day symposium, hosted by the Research School of Humanities, Australian National University, brings together a range of scholars. Together they will explore passing from the perspectives of history, literary studies, visual art, law and cultural studies.
The keynote speaker is Professor Brooke Kroeger, Chair of the Department of Journalism, New York University, and author of Passing: When People Can't Be Who They Are (2003).
The cost of registration is $20 (to provide morning and afternoon tea as well as lunch). Payment in advance is appreciated. Cheques may be made out to “The Australian National University”.
